Special Olympics Bowl-A-Thon, Family Bake off & Exchange Club Diaper/Baby product Collection

Saturday, October 25th was an extremely rewarding and exciting day for me!! It began at 8:15 in the morning when I bet Martha & Linda at Spare Time Bowling Alley to volunteer at the Special Olympics Bowl-A-Thon! It was so amazing to see the excitement and anxiousness in the eyes of the athletes as they waited to begin the games. Martha did a great job presenting the opening ceremonies. It was a blast routing for our team as they knocked down the pins. They are all great bowlers! The best part was presenting the awards at the end of each tournament seeing their smiles as they received their ribbons.
Next we were off to the Family Bake off at the Bristol Library that Trinette, her mom & grandmother invited us too. We enjoyed all of the amazing snacks. Martha was also very excited to receive the pop top collection that Trinette’s Girl Scout Troup collected for her to give to the Ronald McDonald House! Great job Trinette!
We then went to collect Diapers and baby products at the Forestville Stop & Shop with the Exchange Club. This was amazing for me! Mr. Bailey explained that these items will go to the Parent and Children’s Services in Bristol so young or single parents can come in to collect diapers and other baby products several times during any week. I was so sad when Mr. Bailey told me that girls even my age come in for these items because they have babies already. I even learned that there is one girl that is 11 yrs old and pregnant right now. I plan to volunteer at this location to hand out these items; maybe I’ll even get a couple of my friends to join me. It will be eye opening!
Finally, back to the Bowl-A-Thon, to hand out awards for the 2nd tournament of the day! So much Fun!! I learned today that so many adults give up so much time to do such wonderful things for so many people in Bristol!! Martha & I had a GREAT DAY!! THANK YOU LINDA!!

Forestville Pumpkin Festival ~ October 17th

Today, October 17 began at Friendlys with Melissa & Martha talking about so many things. Boy do we have a lot going on this year. I'm so excited.. It was also a fun day at the Pumpkin Festival. All the pumpkins were amazing.. My favorite was the "Twighlight" Pumpkin and it ended up winning first place in the "Theme" category. However, they were all amazing! The scarecrows were awesome too. The childrens custome parade and the Pet parade was so much fun to watch. We danced with the children and Martha judged a pumpkin for the Miss Bristol America prize!!! She chose the military pumpking.. :-) It was nice to see so many people there to support this event..

Miss Bristol's Outstanding Teen 2010

I had such an amazing time getting to know Courtney O, Alyscia, Sabrae and the Miss Bristol Contestants, Brooke, Courtney S. & Kristi! You were all great in the show and I'm happy that I got to know all of you.

Martha, I'm looking forward to the great year we are going to have together. I can't wait for all of the fun times we have ahead of us.

Thanks to the Miss Bristol Organization for organizing this pageant. Without all of you, it would not have been such a wonderful experience. I am so excited to spend my year with all of you!!

I'm so proud to be representing Bristol, the City that I live in. There is so much to offer everyone who lives here and I plan to work hard giving back to my wonderful community and showing my appreciation.
